Meet Our Team
Who we are
Journey Underwater designs and delivers supported scuba diving experiences around the world.
We believe scuba diving can be experienced differently, by creating environments that prioritise physical and psychological safety, both underwater and on land.
We make diving more accessible by offering low-ratio, structured experiences for people who need more time, attention, and support than standard courses provide.
Our work is underpinned by the Dive In™ framework, which shapes how we design and deliver our programs.
Simon Lugan
Co-Founder & Lead Dive Professional
Simon is the Co-Founder of Journey Underwater, a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer & Ashtanga Yoga Instructor.
He leads all in-water training and guided experiences with a calm, patient teaching style and strong focus on individual pacing, particularly for individuals who need more time, attention, or support than standard courses provide.
Before entering the dive industry, Simon worked in high-pressure startup environments. His own experience of scuba diving as a space to slow down and reset continues to shape how he teaches today.
Simon co-developed the Dive In™ framework to support a more structured and personalised approach to learning and experiencing scuba diving, with an emphasis on physical and psychological safety.

Within Journey Underwater, she shapes the Dive In™ framework: a structured approach to how people learn and engage underwater, with attention to physical experience and individual response.
Her background spans medicine, law, and business, alongside academic work relating to fitness for diving and safe, accessible participation.
Her own experiences of feeling overwhelemd in the water continue to inform how these environments are designed.
